I fell into the Chad Marshall trap. He's an excellent talker the problem is that he doesnt deliver. I invested a large sum of money into what he told me was a sure money maker and a strong production. I came to find out he POCKETED more than 1/2 the cash into HIS OWN POCKET! When it came time to hire production staff he had little to no money and had to work half staffed. Eventually his mismanagement resulted in the production dying. Every investor lost their money. Chad is now being sued by everyone. Staff got stiffed and even companies who donated things for product placement were stiffed because Fine Tuned only aired twice! Don't trust this man.

What I would like to see is everyone who levels an accusation about this guy to name themselves publicly, name the production they worked on and try not use the Anonymous way out. In addition, detail your accusation with proof and not letters & words on a keyboard. If you have beef with someone, show yourself and show your proof most importantly. I agree that people shouldn't post anonymously. But I'd also prefer not to attach my name to this based on the fact that this seems to be a pretty much trash someone forum. I'd put my name on if the comments here were more reasonable and backed up with personal stories.
I also agree with many, but not all of the comments here.
From my perspective, the worst I actually personally saw was bad management of production money. Promises made that couldn't possibly be kept based on the budget. (and not properly keeping a budget)
I've heard all of these other stories through the grapevine but never actually saw any of this myself.
That being said, I wouldn't work for or invest money in anyting Chad Marshall related.

I am the moron who requested it so thank you for the name-calling.
Posts like yours don't add any credebility to the apparent concerns that people have about working with this guy.
Of the people who've posted, my company gave BTR more than $125K on a project ... and the project was fulfilled. Yes, there were hiccups. Yes, there were concerns about needing more money to finish the job. But we did get a finished product and it was damn good IMHO.
I, too, have heard these stories about BTR but they are that - just stories.
You think that Fine Tuned is the first show to cancel; BTR the first production company to get sued; Chad the first Prodcuer to get blamed? Wake up and smell the coffee.
The minute BTR finally breaks out - if it does - most of the grips and PAs who've posted on this site anonymously will be nut-hugging for a job. Mark my words.
All of us in the industry know how it works. So wake up and deal with it.
But deal with it with your face forward - not behind your keyboard like school-children.

Here are some facts...
1) Seinfeld- Never worked on Seinfeld, you can check it out for yourself
2) Overhaul'n- Held the lowest position producer AND was fired for lying and cheating. (sound familiar??)
3) Bunny Whipped- Convinced a writer/director he could produce his production on a $500K budget, went WAY over budget, sole from the production, and even went on vacation with production money. He was sued and LOST. Part of the settlement was to have his producer credit removed. Show is called Bunny Whipped.
4) Fine Tune- Well you can read all about what happened here. He played Mr. Big Shot Producer (which he's not) and got a bunch of people to invest, sold the show, people from crew to investers never got paid, Speed Channel is going after him for fruad, and they want their money back.
You can look into each one of these productions to confirm. If you look at his IMDB you'll see that this is pretty much all he has on it.
He's a great talker, gets people excited, promises big things, and "we'll all get rich, none of us will have to pay for cars again!!!", he's really just taking everyone for a ride.
Scary part is I think he REALLY believes what he says and he REALLY sees himself as a successful Hollywood producer. I would urge that you do not take anything he says seriously and run the other way quickly!!!

You may have received your project from him but at whose expense? Having worked with Chad, I bet you that he scammed, conned or stiffed his vendors, employees and / or partners along the way.
The irony is that he delivers a decent project but at way too great expense…and by this, I do not mean monetarily. I mean that he calls in favors, stiffs his vendors all the while enriching only himself. He has a magic about him that gets people to work for little or no money by promising people the world and delivering them nothing so that he can keep all the money for himself.
I am sorry but this is a terrible business practice.
He is a self serving, waste of talent who will turn his back on you the moment you ask to be paid fairly. You stay in his good graces by working for almost no money while being promised you will either get a piece of what the project is or the next project you work with him on. Trust me, I have seen hi do this countless times as I have fallen victim to his trap.
I would be very curious as to what the project is that you paid him for and let this site serve as the forum to find out, who, if anyone was burned as a result of that very project. I think you would be surprised by the responses.

Fine Tuned Pure Truths!
1. Chad sent PAs to bail people out of jail so that jailed person could get him cocaine. (Used Show money to pay the bail)
2. Chad would sell the old parts from the kids cars (the kids who were getting "Fine Tuned") To pay for the crew meals. One of the fine crew meals consisted of a big bucket of bait shrimp that he helped prepare (cause hes so nice) in the BATHROOM! While he forced the camera man to shoot him preparing the shrimp! (HE was a total camera whore too!)
3. He refused to pay his PA's until they ran personal chores for him (like going to his Mamas house to get his furniture and move it to the house that half the Fine tuned budget bought for him.) After he had all ready been WEEKS late paying the poor guys!
4. Fine tuned was completely broke before it even aired! We didnt stop filming because it was canceled! We stopped because the show that was budgeted for ten episodes only got 2 to 3 done before checks started bouncing and 4 total before the crew decided enough was enough and called chad out. The only time he came close to telling the truth is when he admited the show didnt have enough money for the rest of the season. Even after that he tried to convince some of us to stay on with a micro crew and shoot two more episodes with NO MONEY!
5. Every single person on the cast and crew from Fine Tuned were GREAT guys and Gals who got lied to on a daily basis! He not only screwed the cast and crew over but he screwed whole families!!!!!
Im going to stop at 5 I had 617 more but Im getting pissed again and sad for all the GOOD people he REALLY REALLY screwed over!

I'd like to see Chad try to sell something now, his credibility is about as big as me left pinky toe. The real people who made FT happen are Andy the director/editor, the producing partner, the investors, the vendors, the graphic company, the garage, the hosts, the automotive crew, the crew who worked 1/2 off to make the FT pilot. It wasnt only Chad who sold it to Speed. Thank everyone who made that pilot happen and the agent for that. Kudos to them! FT is gone but is was never meant to make it with Chad proclaiming head producer, the chief dIrector, creator, sucking up camera time with Chad's shrimp in the bathroom sink blah blah blah made up other positions he told Hollywood he was. We all know the truth!

I am not here to bash rather to state what I witnessed. I have worked in some capacity on over 12 network and or major cable network shows. The first day I was at the FT set I was amazed at how friendly, chummy Chad was with the other staff members. He was almost the guy you want to be, the guy who can kid and joke with anyone from superiors to employees. Then I stared to notice the cracks. One person would ask Chad a production question or a story line question and he would scramble for an answer or run to another employee to get one. This went on for weeks until no one bothered to ask him questions and that was fine with him. He was OK to take credit - ALL THE CREDIT - for others creative work. Then I noticed he had a thing for getting free stuff. this distinguished him from ANY other "executive producer" I have EVER worked for. When you get to a certain level generally you maintain composure. You are happy with the salary you are making and you actually give the free stuff to your staff. Seriously, think about it. But Chad would actually on set and in front of people call and ask for all kinds of freebies..and not cheap ones either. If you were there you know what Im talking about. The third thing that I noticed that Chad had a REALLY TALENTED DEDICATED STAFF --Im not giving myself props here everyone was really there 12 hours....giving their all. This surprised me, well maybe it didnt. Its like a President who knows he can't govern so he surrounds himself with a great cabinet. The problem was this cabinet didnt get treated with any dignity.

My partners and I had a project with Chad that died. Which I am thankful it did because we had a bad feeling about him. We liked the other producers attached but not Chad. He seemed to be using their experience for his gain. He sent us a contract that was all over the place I wont detail what was suspicious about it, but he obviously wrote it and our lawyers rejected it. He practices bad business. He does not seem like the type of guy who has remorse about it. He seems to believe he's not at fault for the deal falling through. Do what we did and follow your intuitions! I think this site helps and it shows how many seem angered by him only proving what we concluded at the end. He is not legitimate.

I got a question for the $125K investor who only had small hiccups with Chad. damn i can't believe this site! i thought i was the only one burned by chad marshall. i actually worked with him as a PA on multiple jobs and everything went pretty well. i worked on the original FINE TUNED pilot and he told me he would hire me when the show got picked up...almost two years later i got a call from him asking if i could please PA for him again on the show. he promised me work for six months. so i quit a good job in order to work for him...i called him and said i am ready to work...and he said yeah sure, we start monday...no problem. one month later on waiting and i heard excuse after excuse and then it turned out they had already started! he completely burned me and made me lose my previous job...i never worked on the show FINE TUNED that he promised me. who does that? he is a douche-nozzle and anybody that works for him better expect to get cheated or lied to somehow. everyone on the crew for fine tuned was super cool...and that show had promise, but chad took it down the tubes with him at the helm...thanks for nothing! oh and he still owes me $75.

I did a shoot for this producer last spring. I was one of four models. I saw him ask another model's boyfriend who was at the set to go buy food and drinks for the entire crew of about 12 people. Chad asked the boyfriend to buy the stuff and he said he would pay him when he got back. Then when the guy got back with like 100 bucks of hamburgers and things Chad said Oh I dont have any cash we need to call (someone else) not to mention that he tried to stare at us when we were changing clothes! I met Chad a few times on FT set, and i watched him firsthand pull all the shenanigans people here are saying. My favorite thing was he was sitting right next to me, on the phone, and said to whomeveer he was talking to, "I don't know how it works! I'm only good at is talking people into doing stupid shit and getting shit for free. My job is to convince people, your job is to figure out how it works!"
Again i have no idea WHO he was talking to, or what item he was speaking of 'making work' (probably PRODUCTION itself, since he obviosuly has no clue there) but it was ON SET, and it was undeiebly business related. That should SCARE THE HELL OUT OF YOU.

To be honest Chad and I had a lot of fun hanging out and came up with a lot of cool ideas
that may have had great success, had they been executed correctly. That’s all in the past now, and I have moved on. Do I think he should be stopped? i auditioned for fine tuned. they had a casting for a new host spot over the summer. it was the worst uncomfortable audition i have ever went through. it seemed very promising at first. i met tyson beckford (exciting) and the other guy host plus some girl producer or director because she was feeding me lines for the show. they were all very nice.
it was the cheesy executive producer chad marshal who kept telling me he was the executive producer, creator of the fine tuned. what a show off! he asked personal ridiculous questions i wont even get into that made me uncomfortable. he was telling me to sell him something! i was there casting for a host spot not a salesgirl position or auditiong to date him. he was doing it on purpose like he was the most powerful guy in the room. i felt like he was oggling me. he was also rude to tyson and wouldnt let anyone else speak. i can tell the others felt bad for the way he was talking to me. another girl i met in the bathroom after the audtion was upset by him to. chad marshal said some mean things to her during her audition. worst than my experience. i wish i could send this to her.
i told my friends after and for some reason this site came to me by a writer friend of mine. talk about karma! he should never do a casting where he disrespects women. we are not sluts or prostitutes where you can talk to women like that. i dont know what kind of family background he is from but he is a slimey person! reading everyones comments confirms this. i am glad that show failed because he was absolutely arrogant, extremely disrespectful to me so i can only imagine he has no respect for others around him. i hope tyson and the others have moved on to better. i sure have and took it as a big lesson that next time another slimeball type producer does that to me i will walk out of the casting.

So big Chad Marshall is still listed as a guest speaker on Media Bistro...I do feel sorry for those students paying 300 bucks to hear his "wisdom" I wonder how much Chad is getting paid by MB? Maybe we should stand outside and demand the money he owes us, or at least warn the students that what they are going to hear are the words of a con artist. i am a friend of someone who has been screwed over by this chad character. I spent the day reading the blog and it seems this dude was quite the asshole. only issue is this is a single blog entry with 83 comments...doesn't look credible. the way i see credibility is to scan and post one of the following:
1. production bounced checks from BTR or chad (black out your name)
2. the claimed background check information/file documenting the lawsuits against him
3. staffed production agreements from FT staff or any other agreements signed on behalf of chad and/or his company BTR
I'm not saying I want to see these things but having those files would help the cause of all the people that have been screwed.

Chad has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar TWICE. I've personally seen his actions hurt TWO productions. He finds people with money and takes as much as he can for himself. He talks a big talk but he won't put anything on paper. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOU CONTRACTS IN PLACE, but i wouldn't hire him anyway... NEVER give him control over any money.
If you look at the budgets he has created, you'll see MAYBE ten line items, of which he is one or two of them. He is completely unprofessional and unfortunately, once you make the mistake of working with or for him, there is little you can do, but cut your losses and RUN. FAST!!!!! Never sign any rights over to him. Bad mistake. He has abused friends, so, if you don't know him, you KNOW he WILL take advantage of you.
I recommend that anyone who is considering hiring him, working for him or investing with him contact those who Chad has either worked with, for or who he has gotten investments from. You cannot hide from your past or the truth. Ask him for references from Little Athens, Fine Tuned, Overhaulin, etc.

Definitely a scumbag, liar, cheater, check bouncer all around slimy guy. How he keeps scamming people is a shame on all of us - I know I was scammed for a long time by him and had to work out of the hole being associated with him put me in.
BTW - the original budget for Bunny Whipped was 150K - he scummed it up to 500K through lying to the actors and padding their contracts to get them to star. Only after the project was finished did anyone find that out (shame on them - but that is another story) he had lied to all, essentially changing contracts without consent.

I've been reading these comments and am surprised to see what he has escalated to but I am also not too surprised taking how he was in his past. I've known him for a long time and I know of some of the things he's done in the past back in college and high school. I've always known him to be an arogant, attention-getting, selfish pig who will jump at the chance to take advantage of whatever will make him money or better his image (in his eyes). He's a fun person to be around and dealing with him on that level is quite okay, but you have to be aware of where he's coming from before you get too involved with him. You always have to keep him at a distance and definitely don't deal with him when it comes to money. He conveniently shows up in your life when he needs something. I too have been screwed by him, never for a lot of money or anything on a professional level, but usually by things that get him what he wants at the expense of his so called "friends". I was his friend and I think deep down he can be a good guy as long as you keep it on that level and don't bring money into the mix. But who knows, he could just have been lubing me up for the next screw. I've known him to scam people and companies on a small level in the past, but to know he has escalated this to affect people's livelihoods is just a side I wouldn't want to believe but yet I do. So, to those who posted anything questioning the posts on here, this is coming from someone who knew him before he was a so called "big time producer". He's always been the big bullshitter and it gets him places. Just don't let it get past you or you'll be the victim and he won't look back. It hurts to know that he has sunk to screwing over friends and preying on their friends. He's offered me some of the same platter of bullshit that he's offered others. I don't want to sound naive about the subject because I don't deal with him on a professional level I only know him off the set. I don't want to believe I've been dealing with such a scumbag because in a way it makes me feel like an idiot but I do realize what kind of person he is and I don't discount any of these people's complaints. As a "friend" I feel sorry for him. I think he has real issues that make him act this way, aside from being an asshole. It's a pity because there is so much more he could offer if he would only put his efforts to actually being great instead of posing and acting like he's a big shot.
